Feldman Hair Institute helps patients and practitioners understand where and how the hair is changing, how the findings fit together, and what should be followed next.
Where FHI fits
Patients can enter before diagnosis, after diagnosis, during treatment, for long-term monitoring, around a procedure, or through practitioner referral. FHI organizes the hair-loss timeline, visible distribution, scalp findings, photographs, trichoscopy, existing investigations, treatment history, and change over time.
Assessment and interpretation
The assessment separates what is directly observed from what the findings suggest biologically, what remains uncertain, and what requires further evaluation or monitoring. The result is a clearer case model for the patient and the practitioners involved.
Working with practitioners
With patient consent, FHI returns relevant findings and monitoring information to the treating or referring practitioner. FHI can remain the central organizing and monitoring point for the hair-loss case when several conditions, treatments, or practitioners are involved.
Follow-up and continuity
The initial assessment establishes the baseline. Follow-Up & Monitoring visits track progression, stabilization, relapse, recovery, and treatment response, using the Hair Scoreboard where useful.
Leadership
FHI was founded and is directed by Peter R. Feldman, PhD (Medicine), a hair researcher, Certified Trichologist, and Evidence-Based Hair Fellow.
